In this two-part, half-day virtual training, MAIT & Hedy Schleifer invite you into a deeper exploration of what becomes possible when couples are guided to face their most challenging inner and relational “neighborhoods”—not to fix them, but to listen. Drawing on Otto Scharmer’s Theory U, Hedy introduces the practice of Generative Presencing: a way of slowing down, going beneath reactivity, and accessing the deeper wisdom that allows something new to emerge. When couples are supported in meeting unprocessed pain, shame, and fear with presence rather than defense, they can move beyond the reactive Survival Dance and into a more intentional Life in Connection. Through live demonstration couples, teaching, and guided reflection, participants will learn how to help couples access both their current self—shaped by past experiences—and their future self, which holds unrealized potential. As these two selves begin to listen to one another, profound shifts in connection, meaning, and relational vitality become possible. This training offers a powerful, experiential framework for clinicians working with couples who feel stuck in entrenched patterns and are ready for deeper, transformative work.
