Dr. Teresa M. Hunt is a licensed psychologist with over thirty years of clinical experience working with a wide range of clients in hospital, community mental health, clinic, and private practice settings. Her clinical training was in the Columbia, Harvard, and University of Michigan Hospital Systems. She has had extensive Post-Doctoral Training and Certification in Psychoanalysis. Additional Advanced Trainings and Certifications include: Hypnotherapy for Individuals, Imago Relationship Therapy for Individuals and Couples, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), and the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT). Dr. Hunt is in private practice in Annapolis, MD where she specializes in Individual and Couples Therapy. She presents IMAGO Weekend Workshops for Individuals and Couples. Her Couples Therapy Practice integrates Imago, EFT and PACT Couples Therapy approaches. These models are extremely powerful, and very effective when creatively combined. Another unique aspect of her practice is her ability to combine Couple\'s therapy expertise with expertise in ADHD/ADD. She also works with Catastrophic Grief and Loss. Dr. Hunt: " I believe in starting where the client is, with deep empathy and validation, but always holding for my client a vision for his/her higher potential and a greater possibility for his/her life. The work we do together strives to enable them to see their situation in a new way where they can feel empowered and hopeful. Many individuals feel liberated when the repetitive self-defeating patterns, or blocking mindset can be altered. In some cases grieving is necessary. On the other side of grief, is awakening, discovery, and renewal. Changes in self, mood and behavior can occur, and new doors open for a different kind of living. Much is possible on the other side of fear. The aim is to face the blocks, and to gain energy from the non-resistance to what is currently going on, and develop a new perspective. Feeling validated in one's thoughts, feelings and experiences is a form of care with enormous healing power. The kinds of issues that I help Individuals with are work and life problems, relationship issues of all kinds, loss of meaning, spiritual crises, anxiety, depression, grief, Adult ADHD, divorce, separation, low self-esteem, emotional or other kinds of abuse, young adulthood issues, self-sabotaging personality patterns. Couples Therapy is a real specialty, and takes years of experience to do well. With couples, using Imago Relationship Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT), I strive to help partners clear out the blocks in their relationship space, develop "owner's manuals on each other's CNS and build secure bonds.
