Profile Statement
I am an experienced clinician who bridges psychodynamic therapy with newer skills in CBT, DBT, and EMDR. I trained in Imago therapy many years ago and continue to work with couples. My work is also supported by my Level III-plus completion in Internal Family Systems which adds to the richness of Imago. Hedy Schleifer has been my most influential teacher in the Imago world. I am also a Certified Hudson Institute Coach, working with corporations, executives and those who want to fulfill their life visions. I lean heavily on Positive Psychology to move people along, and have an optimistic view of human potential and the power of human connection to change one’s mind set and one’s life. I am an innovator, having started one of the the first outpatient eating disorders programs in the DC area in 1980. I maintain an avid interest in helping couples wherein one partner suffers from an eating issues, and also ADHD which co-occurs frequently. As a group therapist, I currently facilitate the Continuing Practice Group for senior social workers and the Women’s Covid Anxiety
Support Group. I have a special interest in forming a group for those who have had Covid or have lost loved ones during the pandemic. My group training was in
2018 at the Washington School of Psychiatry. I am interested in my clients’ holistic health, nutrition, exercise, weight maintenance and habit formation and believe that physical health and mental well being are one and the same.
